Germania_bandiera coin Germany 5 marks ounce Allegories: Britain and Germany 2019 unc

allegory of female figures (Britain and Germany)

For the first time in the history of numismatics, Germany will "encounter" legendary national personifications in symbolic circumstances on subsequent coins in the Allegories series.

Straight ahead
The first coin in the Allegories series features a personification of two historical lands: Germany and Britain. On previous coins Germany kept a laurel wreath with a shield. This time her sword rests peacefully in a scabbard attached to her waist and she reaches out in a sensitive gesture to Britannia. So far Lady Britannia has been presented as a beautiful and caring woman. On the new coin she is surrounded by her characteristic attributes: a Roman helmet with plume, shield and trident, which refers to the ancient maritime power of her land. We can look for the symbolism of these two Amazons in the historical context as well as in current events ...

Reverse
The symbolism included in this drawing represents moral principles and noble values, which are relevant to this day.

An oak leaf wreath symbolizes loyalty, stability and national unity. In the past, only people who wielded enormous power - spirit, muscle or magic - could wear it.

The shield is a defensive part of the weapons used by formations on horseback and on foot from the Bronze Age to Antiquity to the Middle Ages. It accompanied the images of the greatest warriors as an attribute of gods and heroes, a symbol of truth, fidelity and trust.

The crown in heraldry is also a symbol of authority and nobility or chivalry. The above symbols correspond directly to the values represented by Germany and Britain. Please take into consideration that the following coat of arms is a figment of the imagination and does not represent any noble family or kingdom.

Since Germany is a historical land and has never been an official country, we have decided to create our own interpretation of its coat of arms.

The crowned shield has been divided into four parts, each of which has a traditional meaning, defined precisely by heraldry.

In the upper left corner of the coat of arms is the double-headed eagle of Germany Mint, a symbol of Roman mythology associated with Janus, the god of all origins, guardian of doors, gates, passages and bridges, patron of contracts and of alliances. The heads facing the opposite symbolize the past and the future.

The upper right corner is decorated with a checkered pattern that refers to wisdom and prudence: every good ruler should be distinguished by these character traits.

In the lower left corner of the shield are three flowers on a gold ribbon. They hide three values that determine a strong and independent nation: unity, integrity and freedom.

In the lower right corner of the crest appears a boar, a very popular and respectful animal in the Roman Empire, which is a symbol of power and might. At least three famous Roman legions are known to have a boar as their emblem: Legio I Italica, Legio X Fretensis and Legio XX Valeria Victrix. - coat of arms - silver (Silver) .999 conservation as per photo - product code P / 08822_C
