Legendary in the world of classical music, the Society of Music Lovers hosts over 800 concerts every year at its headquarters, the Musikverein, the aesthetically and acoustically brilliant Vienna. Depicted on the obverse of the coin, above the "Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde" (Society of Music Lovers) legend, the Musikverein Main Concert Hall and its impressive organ host the famous New Year's concert of the Wiener Philharmonic Orchestra, which is broadcast in over 70 countries all over the world. One of the many imposing statues of the caryatids that overlook the splendid gilded hall is exposed in the foreground. The reverse side of the coin shows the shields of the nine Austrian federal states.
