He is one of the greatest painters of the Venetian eighteenth century and the last exponent of the glorious Venetian school. His art is linked to the sixteenth-century tradition of the Venetian colorists, preferring the themes of light and perspective.
depicts a detail of the masterpiece entitled Hagar and Ishmael in which the Venetian painter fixes the moment in which, in the biblical episode, the angel sent by God saves Hagar and Ishmael who were lost in the desert, indicating them a source of water .
The painting, kept at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, is just an example of Tiepolo's fertile and sure creative vein, celebrated both in his time and later, cited by Goethe in his Journey to Italy and primary exponent of a an artistic season of great importance, perhaps one of the last happy seasons for Italian art.
